Thankfully Jean Mi, Eric, Adrien and all their friend and volunteer helpers have been able to rescue most of the exhibits although some of the paper exhibits and photo’s have been lost.
Jean Mi said “we tried to keep the flood water back but it was impossible” he went on to say, “when the water breached the doors to the museum it rose to 3 metres, we are lucky to be alive”
Jean Mi and Eric have been able to find storage space with friends and family for all the collection and they are now busy restoring as much of the collection as they can.
Eric said “It will be a hard job but we will do it however long it takes, we continue, we must perpetuate the memories for the future, for veterans and their families.”
Restoration is underway already.
